The people steering Icarus Adventures
Larry duPont is a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, entrepreneur, and advocate for “Wind Therapy” — the healing power of riding. A former law enforcement officer, athlete, and competitive marksman, he brings discipline, creativity, and passion to every venture. His early fascination with motorcycles began before age ten, evolving into a lifelong pursuit of freedom, community, and purpose on two wheels. Always seeking new challenges he has attended BMW Motorad on & off road schools, as well as taking his street bikes on track in 2025. Since launching Icarus Larry pledged to "ride every day." Between the numerous farm trails for dirt and ADV bikes and the rolling hills surrounding the farm he has a great track record so far of keeping his promise.
After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Larry served as a Deputy Sheriff and later as a Police Officer in the city of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he received top firearms awards and built deep ties to his community. His career shifted to entrepreneurship when he founded LRS Foods, a pioneering aquarium nutrition company that disrupted an industry dominated by global brands. Under his leadership, LRS became the first frozen food line with active probiotics featured in aquaculture journals and credited with advancing captive breeding programs — including Disney’s “Dory” project.
Larry’s journey reflects resilience and reinvention. Running and gunning for his entire life, post age 50 anxiety burnout "unmasked" his Autism, specifically AuDHD. Something finally provided clarity to decades of unanswered executive function, impulsivity, and food/sleep struggles. He now channels neurodivergent thinking into innovation and advocacy, using his story to inspire others facing similar challenges. His commitment to Autism and PTSD awareness, combined with his belief in the restorative power of riding, fuels his newest venture — Icarus Adventures, a movement uniting riders to bring joy and support to children’s and veterans’ homes through community rides and charitable outreach.
Today, Larry’s mission is simple: To spread hope, unity, and purpose through the roar of engines and the wind on the open road. His life’s work embodies the spirit of perseverance — proving that passion, empathy, and grit can turn adversity into momentum. SidecarSmiles.org also points to this domain where Larry intends to dive into the online sidecar community. Operating a sidecar gives untold challenges which soothes an ADHD brain seeking daily novelty and challenges. We have a line of apparel based on spreading Sidecar Smiles™ coming very soon.
His latest catch phrase is "Life is happier behind a windscreen instead of staring at a cell phone, laptop, or TV screen."
The photo gallery below tells a pictorial story of Larry's professional and personal life. His passion, diversity of hobbies and pursuits is anything but boring!

I love the wall graphic from James Vincent Carroll Music hovering over the desk I'm grinding out content. He's a motorcycle enthusiast, and family man resilient to the core who slays songs enabling his followers to relive memories back from the 80 and 90's! Check out his edgy rock and roll vibe on all common streaming services. You will see more of us together in photos and in person.

TL:DR HINT>> If you don't want to see top Moto GP riders "Hyperfocusing" like many of us do when our helmet visor comes down, then skip down to the slideshow of his past pursuits. Veronica is next, then the entire Board of Directors. Thank you so much for your time reading thus far and we hope you enjoyed learning about us and our causes.
What is "Neodivergence?" We all have the the same brain with the same "operating system" but some have "enhanced features" in Beta test mode. We don't think like the masses in the way we solve problems. Growing up in the 70's, many of us were put in "gifted" programs cause the system couldn't assimilate someone who could do a math worksheet in 3 minutes that took the class 30. No work, no cheating they said it was the gift, but piled on more work and books to keep us busy to keep from disrupting class. School administrators didn't identify it as ADHD and they said "You're bright enough, you'll figure it out." We did and DO, but it comes with often insurmountable obstacles in adulthood.
"High output" individuals with ADHD suffer 9 times more with addiction, depression, and suicide. Many with ADHD become entrepreneurs not because of natural born business sense, but rather they cannot conform and work well with others so keeping traditional employment is difficult.
Did you know some of the top MotoGP racers in the world, have Autism and use Hyperfocus? YOUR own inner voice determines your vitality and might, or not. I'm still getting to know my "Brilliantly Broken Brain." Looking back I recognize how Hyperfocus, and pattern recognition immediately presented the fastest way through the shooting stages when I was attempting to turn pro in the 90's. I simply "saw" what I needed and committed if the flash sight picture looked perfect. I pressed the trigger and never waited for audible confirmation or to see the bullet impact. I saw the "perfect apex" before I moved through the shooting course. Much like the riders in the videos, visualization is very beneficial for rehearsing complex motor skills. It is also said that people with ADHD "Think in endless possibilities not Limitations." That is certainly me.
Veronica and Larry met nearly 30 years ago when he was 19 years old ripping around on his 94 Vmax. She was a willing participant and grew fond of motorcycling while they travelled back roads all around Chester County, PA where they grew up. After moving to NC in 2005 they had limited time to ride due to raising a family and Larry worked a rotating police patrol schedule. Veronica managed the farm and most of daily operations while Larry worked rotating shifts in policing. She took a part-time job as a rehab tech at a local assisted living facility. Building upon her excellent people skills, giving nature and dedication she excelled to rose through the ranks to work in Admin under the Director of Admissions. She left her position there only when LRSFoods.com became too taxing for Larry to run solo and he was overwhelmed with demand. Always one to support her husband's dreams she resigned from a position which took years to attain.
For nearly fifteen years they worked side-by-side where she managed the production kitchen with gusto while Larry handled sales and order fulfillment. Together, as a "Power couple" they cannonballed into the aquarium industry and after fifteen years of hard work, research and transparency built the number one specialty brand in America. Soon after their daughter Erica would join the team to run daily operations while Veronica made the food, and Larry and Hayden ran the shipping department. Veronica produced batches of food which aided in the captibe breeding of many fish inluding the breeding of "Dory" the sequel to "Finding Nemo." Did you know blue tang fish are born clear? You can see pics HERE, and it was an amazing project she was producing the food for the breeding fish. In the video below we were given a tour but world renowned aquaculture guru Kevin Barden.
Veronica has had many passions to enjoy alongside Larry to include 5 years of 3X a week boxing sessions, riding her Specialized mountain bike, running 2 half-marathons, gardening and she loves her pets. When Veronica comes into a room the mood is elevated and her loving and approachable demeanor attracts everyone. It's hard to believe but Larry is often the quiet one.

Veronica has always been one for adventure, and often Larry draws her into something before she can even object..(lol) She has completed the MSF motorcycle course in two states and has ridden everything from her first HD Lowrider to now enjoying her Can Am Spyder with "Leo." She enjoys the freedom of the open road and especially riding the Blue Ridge Parkway. Leo is her willing co-pilot and comfort animal and he loves the children and is the sweetest Dachshund ever.

As an avid equestrian she has a love of all animals and her dream of owning a horse become a reality when moving to the Carolinas in 2005. Larry said when the kids moved out..."I'm trading in my horse for an "iron horse" with a key instead of a feed bucket and stalls to muck!
She agrees.
As of September 2026 they launched Icarus Adventures to make memories instead of fish food to get back some of the joy and fulfillment that was lost during the Pandemic. Having exited the aquarium industry at the top of their game her energy, passion, and commitment to excellence carries over to her non-profit where she is the Founder.
Keep an eye out for the duo at an event near you.
This young man loved hanging out with Leo at the Tanglewood Pizza Company Launch Party on September 3rd!

Darrell brings a wealth of life experiences to the Icarus team. He holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in both Criminal Justice and Criminal Investigations and has been in law enforcement for over 40 years. After returning as a combat proven veteran in Vietnam, Darrell continued his public service as a sworn police officer in Greensboro, NC during some of the most tumultuous times.
While serving his country he attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer III before returning home to serve on patrol in a civilian capacity.
He currently serves on the Board of Department of War ESGR program woking with the National Guard and Reserves programs aiding all branches. In addition Darryell has a private pilots license and is a member of the "Blue Knights" International motorcycle club for fellow law enforcement officers.
When not working Darrell enjoys riding motorcycles and now is exploring three wheeled trikes for his Wind Therapy.
Due to his dedication to public service and passion for motorcycling he was enthusiastic to be on our Board. His desire to give aging Veterans a "Freedom Lap" in the parking lot of their independent living facilities is an endeavor we are both eager to accomplish.
Last year the Founders Family welcomed Darrell home from his well deserved "Freedom Flight" at Greensboro airport last year. That energy from the crowd and seeing the joy in the faces of the retired veterans sparked an idea in Larry's head to repeat that in a smaller form in the safety of a sidecar, while holding an American flag to help re-create that feeling of "Freedom."

Jeff has been involved in motorsports since a young age, just like many on the the Icarus team. Having enjoyed dirt bikes in his earlier years he now is an accomplished rider on the street. Jeff’s passion for motorcycles boils over with enthusiasm as he strives to improve his riding with ongoing training and riding every chance he can. Having been a life long Harley Davidson fan, Jeff attended a “Street Survival” School at the BMW Motorad Academy with Larry in 2026.
Jeff enjoyed the school so much, pushing the machine's capabilities and himself to experience new challenges on two wheels. Jeff was so impressed with the ABS, smoothness, and responsiveness while riding the BMW’s he came home and bought a BMW K16! Later while aiding the Founders to relocate their business to Chicago, Jeff snagged a Triumph Bonneville for an around town scoot.
Over the past year Jeff and his wife Cynthia became dear friends of the Founders and were bystanders caught up in the transfer of our LRSFoods.com business which lasted for months before the final transfer to SaltwaterAquarium.com in August 2026. During that period Jeff assisted Larry with the relocation of the business. He actually learned the food production operations of the business well enough to wrap up loose ends in Chicago while Larry was buttoning up the transition back home.
Once that transition was complete it was obvious Jeff had the desire to be a part of our next adventure. With his good nature, love for children, fun, and humor he is a perfect fit for our team to work with all ages. His loyalty and dedication both professionally and as a friend are unmatched.
Jeff is an CDL Owner/Operator of a trucking business, often hauling aggregate stone and asphalt to improve the roads we ALL ride on around the Carolinas.
