Icarus: In Greek Mythology Daedalus was a master craftsman who crafted wings for his son, Icarus. He warned him to fly a middle course- not too low where the ocean water would bog down his wings, nor too high where the sun's heat would melt the wax. Motorcycling can be described as Icarian. You can twist that throttle and enjoy endless joy and breathtaking scenery. If you never press the start button the view never changes, but if you twist the wrist and "soar too high" the punishment is death.
Icarus Adventures is a brand dedicated to living in the now, eager to experience all life has to offer on two wheels with Confidence, Vigor & Resilience.
Larry and his wife Veronica are a testament to that message as a couple combining passion, entrepreneurship, and success. Larry is no stranger to leadership having served for a decade as a sworn law enforcement officer.
Having been on two wheels for over 40 years he spent his weekends and Summers in the Pocono Mountains on two and four wheels before meeting Veronica at age 19. Now in their early 50's they are committed to themselves and their passion for motorcycling. Both Larry and Veronica have conquered their demons using "Wind Therapy" to right their courses in life. The stress of producing America's favorite aquarium food for over 500 retailers, while losing loved ones during a pandemic took it's toll on both. We literally produced and sold two years worth of food in less than a year fueled from panic buying consumers trapped at home. The stress and production demands for the entire family was brutal....mountains of sales, but ZERO time for sleep, nourishment and never finding time for an overall sense of wellbeing. Larry became a functioning alcoholic, continuing the "grind" but inching closer to death when his endocrine system shut down. Replacing solid food with a fifth of Tito's daily to function was not healthy. He looked and operated normally to outsiders but was overstressed, overworked, with zero real joy or fulfillment. Surrounded by success, yet longing for meaningful "flight." He got sober on October 8th, 2024 and his world became "Technicolor" just like before he ever consumed a drop. Veronica suffered the loss of her Aunt and sudden unexpected loss of her Mother during this time which was incredibly difficult. She suffered chronic depression for months,. Her upcoming Blog entry will blow you away as her climb back to happiness culminated with her driving her 2026 Can Am Sea to Sky Spyder home last week and going straight to Myrtle Beach for Bike Week 2026. They made their climb together out of the darkness using "Wind Therapy" and wish to connect with others who feel that reward or feeling.
Larry literally said "Enough" in January 2026 and prioritized family time and making memories over business to become "grounded." The business is booming but the production shop hours are capped weekly, so we have a life-work balance. Veronica began solo riding again starting her journey of recovery on her Can Am Ryker and retired her Honda Rebel 500. Wind Therapy as a passenger, then operator renewed her spirit and confidence.
Larry turned to track days in 100 degree heat last year at 100MPH (fun photo set coming ASAP) and went to several BMW Motorad on and ADV motorcycling to improve his riding skills, bolster mental health, and overall wellbeing.
After 30 years of drinking alcohol daily (Hey, it's what society says we do after a hard day right?) Larry quit cold turkey and will be two years sober Oct 8, 2026.
His once prized barrel of bourbon serves a daily reminder of restraint, but it is always joyous seeing friends stop by to enjoy a taste of local craft bourbon.
Larry and Veronica both detached from the real world and cathartically used "Wind Therapy" to fight chronic depression which lead them to discover an ENTIRE WOLRD of fellow motorcyclists who enjoy this empowering feeling. There is a ton of information about how the complex mental calculations while operating while motorcycling permit the mind to shut out all other thoughts, especially those of worry or despair. This mental relaxation one enjoys while riding is so powerful and needed it is WHY we ride in the face of risk. For those who have never ridden they do not "get it." For those who do understand that feeling, the reset, the pause from the days ills, we cannot get away from it.
Larry stumbled upon this YouTube video which was the first step out of his depression. "CopperDawg" was battling cancer down below 125 pounds and when he asked the Doctor "How will I ever get back to the man I was?" The doctor simply said to pick one single thing you love and start there. He chose motorcycling, as did Larry, (That explains the the track days, building the showroom of his youth where he worked growing up, collecting, etc.) At first CopperDawg could only sit on his bike for 20 minutes and he never imagined being able to ride again. I won't spoil the ending but THAT video started me on a path to wellness.
The channel is especially beneficial for seniors who will likely take away something from every video. His content focuses on why as senior riders we MUST ride for our health and longevity and not regress into fear and feebleness.
